Old School Runescape's Debut new Mode in Years is a Hardcore Co-op Odyssey

In 2014, Ironman mode let Old School Runescape players test their skills with an completely self-sufficient challenge. The nostalgic MMO allows you to share the load with your teammates which allows you to conquer the world without external help.

Announced today, Group Ironman (opens in new tab) is the first major game mode to launch in Old School Runescape in half a decade. A twist on the existing Ironwoman and Ironman modes, Group keeps many of the same limitations (no trading or trading, no rewards from other players' kills or XP earned by other players, no grand exchange) with the intention of making your character self-sufficient however, it extends the restrictions to a group of players instead of just one.

You can share equipment and other items within the group. There is also storage that is shared. Outside of those social walls, you have to adhere to the Ironman rules and can't ask for help from other players. It's a social, less intimidating approach to tackling one of the game's toughest challenges and it's something that Old School Runescape players have been asking for.

In the press release, Jagex stated that Group Ironman was among the most voted-for new additions to OSRS history. Being a deliberately nostalgic client, updates in OSRS are voted on by the community and are only made available after they have reached a 75% approval threshold. Jagex estimates that about 140,000 players voted in Group Ironman. The approval rate is 80% , making it a simple entry.

You can enable group ironman halfway through the tutorial island. The group of adventurers you have planned will meet at The Iron Tutor on The Node.
